Tiny Blogs (volume 1)

Tiny Blogs (volume 1)

Listen here, friends! Or… read here, friends? I’m trying a new thing here on the blog… allow me to explain.

Welcome to volume one of Tiny Blogs!

Tiny Blogs is my new short-form blog post about my day-to-day life. It might be everyday, or just slightly behind the present day, or even once a week on a very interesting day… Regardless, the point of these blogs is to tell a short story about my day and maybe share a couple photos I took that day. There really won’t be a theme or a focus to these, but its just for me to overcome some barriers I currently have.

… What barriers? WELL, I’m so glad you asked, because the first volume of Tiny Blogs is all about the inspo behind these tiny blogs! Also sprinkled in– the two or three photos I managed to capture on thanksgiving. Enjoy!

A real photo of me as a 14 year old at my grandparents’ house! I had a babytooth stuck under my adult tooth, and I wiggled it out on my own, and my teeth straightened out naturally so I didn’t need braces! What a life. My little snaggletooth…

I’m reading a book called, “We Need Your Art: Stop Messing Around and Make Something” by Amie McNee. She talks about the creative world and the roadblocks that artists often face. I find myself reading these sort of “self help books for artists” occasionally, mainly because there’s almost certainly one little nugget of wisdom I take from any number of them. This book delivers, with a special little nugget on how to overcome perfectionism and procrastination.

Amie explains that we just need to make a bunch of BAD ART. Art that is, yes… bad. Along with making a bunch of bad art, she also explained that making smaller versions of your big projects can help you form a habit of finishing projects. Big news for me, a girl who has always been a major procrastinator. AND I’m an eldest daughter (a flex)? DUH! Of course I’m a chronic perfectionist.

The worst part about this new blog format? Now I have to remember to take photos! I have like 3 photos from the last few days, its SO BAD. Here’s a photo of some books.

Alas, the purpose of the tiny blogs is to overcome my own creative barriers, and I definitely needed to read this book at this very moment. I personally hate making bad art, or things that serve no true purpose in some informative or inspirational way. I also hate sharing things that I know I could have made better. Sometimes I find myself editing my blog posts over and over to reach perfection, and right before I click “save & publish,” I decide it isn’t up to my standard and leave it in the drafts.

It’s interesting, because I don’t currently have a writer’s block, but I do have major time-management issues that are getting in the way of me writing long extensive blog posts. As I’ve said, I’m planning a wedding. Also, It's the holidays as of 2 days ago… AND there’s about two weeks until my birthday, AGAIN ALREADY? For some reason, October through December feels like living some out of body experience with how busy everything gets. In order to get something– ANYTHING… up on my site? I’m doing it.

I’m making the bad art, there I said it!

So here I am writing Tiny Blogs! Thanks for reading the first volume of the day-to-day thoughts of a chronic over-thinker. I hope there’s some value in this, but also I’m hoping that gaining a rhythm to these posts will make this place, at the very least, entertaining for the masses. lol SO YES, Tiny Blogs 1 is DONE. I wrote it today! LOL

Kindly,
TheRollerCodester AKA: Cody :)
